Chaired by Luis Sunen director of Scherzo magazine Josep Pons has been the Permanent Artistic Director of Spains National Orchestra and Choir and previously he was Musical and Artistic Director of Barcelonas Tehatre Lliure Chamber Orchestra and of the City of Granada Orchestra. Recently, he has been appointed as the new Musical Director of Barcelonas Gran Teatre del Liceu.

    Javier Perianes, one of the most outstanding Spanish pianists in the current concert hall scene Worldwide.In Spanish with simultaneous interpretation.

    El Problema by Spaniards Jordi Ferrer and Pablo Vidal features testimonies gathered over four and a half years in Western Sahara where close to 200,000 Saharawis have been displaced for over 35 years and live in four large refugee camps.

    El Problema is the winner of the Amnesty International Prize at the San Sebastian film festival in 2010 Human Rights Human Wrongs Film Festival in Oslo 2010 and the First Prize at FISAHARA 2010 International Sahara Film Festival.

    The award-winning documentary will be followed by a Q&A session with director Pablo Vidal and human-rights activist from Western Sahara Rabab Amidane.

    This exhibition will focus on the origins of the independence movements in Spanish speaking America and the formation of the new republics in the continent through a selection of different documents manuscripts personal correspondence official reports sketches maps commercial contracts travelogues scientific publications federal constitutions philatelic material and pamphlets held in the Latin American collections at the British Library.

    The exhibition will highlight the political commercial and military relations developed between Great Britain and other Latin American countries throughout the 19th century showing how this transatlantic connection became central for the formation of the independent republics.In collaboration with ACA LASP.

    As part of Spanish Language Day Día E which we celebrate simultaneously at all the Instituto Cervantes centres worldwide on June 19 we have arranged the following activity: Jazz concert with Omar Puente.Born in Santiago de Cuba Omar learned his love of violin form his father.

    As a student at Estaban Salas Santiagos finest music school. At the age of 12 Omar left Santiago to go to Havana and take up his place at Escuela Nacional de Arte. Omar completed his formal education at Instituto Superior de Arte Cuba's university for the performing arts.

    He learned Latin Jazz at the feet of Chu Cho Valdez and Arturo Sandoval and Cuban music from Ruben Gonzales and Guillermo Rubalcaba. Havana was in its Heyday and Omar was in his element. Omar teaches jazz violin and Cuban music at Leeds College of Music. He continues to teach in Havana, and maintains a close relationship with the Cuba Solidarity Campaign.
